‘Fire safety’ describes the techniques and policies put in place to prevent fires and reduce the damage they cause. We examine the science of combustion to identify the most common causes of fires and their spread. The course plays out the fire management procedures designed to reduce fire hazards. We explain how to identify fire hazards and possible sources of ignition via risk assessments and other techniques used to improve fire safety.
